7.03 Question 3

How can you teach students the skills they need to perform higher order thinking when they create projects? what types of questions, prompts, and scaffolds can you use to encourage students to think deeply and not simply copy and paste answers?

In my grade level the effective mean to teach students to perform through higher order thinking is through continued practice after its implementation. Any questions that are used within the classroom can be deciphered for clues for the students to answer any question. This strategy of breaking down the question is used in the upper elementary grades when they start taking state exams. When they are creating projects the students will be asked and shown how to be on their thinking zones and through graphic organizers their thoughts can be recorded. Graphic organizers are a good scaffold for any student to use that allows for students to individualize their responses and allow for more thinking time.
